Job Description

The role is based in our Leeds head office, supporting businesses across central Europe and Mexico. The main focus of the role is to interpret and report the outputs from our impairment models: doing analysis to understand trends; liaising with credit and finance teams across the organisation to apply business understanding; making recommendations for changes required due to changing circumstances; implementing any agreed changes.

We are looking for someone with analytical and modelling expertise combined with great communication skills, as the role requires direct contact with board level stakeholders. This could be a great opportunity for someone looking to make the move from analyst to senior analyst, or alternatively for a senior analyst looking to expand their experience in a different sector.

What you will be required to deliver in your new role?

  • Deliver a range of complex analytics projects, leading virtual teams across the group to agreed standards and timescales
  • Provide analysis and recommendations from insight into customer behaviour and credit performance in order to shape value creating credit strategies
  • Provide advice on how to optimise business credit strategies and customer credit policies, leading to driving change through the credit life cycle, across a range of products and portfolios
  • Provide analytical insight by examining the best ways to utilise data that can impact business strategy and add value
  • Development of methodologies for forecasting and stress testing credit exposure
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders and build their understanding in order to facilitate the identification of current and emerging credit risk and opportunities to obtain buy in to the recommended actions
  • Develop and execute detailed plans to support wider business delivery of tasks/projects
  • Development and implementation of models, scorecards and strategies in the management of credit risk
  • Support the Team Manager to develop team members skills through coaching and effective support
  • Positively support the vision and strategy of the department
  • Support the team Manager to engage and motivate team members

What skills are we looking for?


  • 2:1 degree or postgraduate qualification in statistics, data modelling, data mining or similar numerate discipline or equivalent


  • Strong verbal and written communicator, with demonstrated presentation skills to a wide audience;
  • proven effective organisational ability to meet time sensitive deadlines working on own initiative;
  • excellent negotiating and influencing skills;
  • excellent analytical and numerical skills with demonstration across the full customer life cycle;
  • high level of creativity and problem solving;
  • commercially aware decision making


  • Detailed understanding of the concept of credit risk management and its role within the full customer life cycle, including link with marketing, collections and loss prevention;
  • In depth understanding and demonstrable application of the basic principles of credit scoring;
  • Knowledge and wide practical experience of the tools available to support the management of credit risk;
  • Understanding of credit bureau and relevant legislation


  • Proven experience as a Credit Analyst
  • Proven experience and skills in managing or leading projects
  • Proven experience gained within a financial services environment, ideally to include exposure to revolving credit products
